This course is designed to improve the methods of a representative or “stakeholder” by providing tools and scenarios that will improve communication and teach how to manage issues.

This training will help you practice listening, develop a succinct message and more.

Training description

This training shows how to get a message across to Kaiser Permanente members, co-workers, supervisors — even family members. Put new skills to work in advocating for change, presenting to your team, promoting KP, training others, giving information to members and advancing your career at KP.

This in-person training is for unit-based teams, LMP councils, units/departments and other groups.

Course description

The Co-lead workshop exposes co-leads to the skills and knowledge needed to make unit-based teams work together effectively. The skills the co-lead learns are discussed and agreements are made regarding implementation as he/she returns to the unit-based team.

Two 4-hour modules (8 hours total)

Who should attend

This course is the first of two workshops intended specifically for all labor, management or physician unit-based team co-leads. The workshop builds on previous LMP orientation training co-leads may have attended. Following this course, co-leads are encouraged to attend the advanced course titled: Team Leadership for Co-leads: Leading Your Team to the Next Level.

• Labor Management Partnership Orientation
• Labor and management co-leads attend the training together

Requires basic knowledge of:

• Consensus Decision Making (CDM)
• Interest-Based Problem Solving (IBPS)

Training description

Creating a space where workers feel safe speaking up leads to better patient care and a better workplace. This fast-paced, interactive workshop helps frontline workers and managers learn what a speaking-up culture looks like, why it matters and how to manage difficult conversations through role play and group exercises.
